Today, it was officially announced during the Warner Bros. discovery streaming call that a television series, based on the Harry Potter books, will be featured on Max – Warner Bros.’ newly announced streaming platform.
The series is set to be a “faithful adaptation” of the novels, with a new cast taking on the iconic roles.
Moreover, the series has received a considerable 10-year commitment, but it’s important to note that this doesn’t necessarily equate to 10 seasons, as the story will unfold over the course of the next decade.
JK Rowling, As The Executive Producer
JK Rowling has been announced as the executive producer. Although Warner Bros. has confirmed the existence of the series, there is no news about its release date or when production will begin.
Since the development is still in its early stages, it is likely that the release and production start date will be some time away.
Earlier this month, a source told that a series was being developed, but a deal was not yet finalized. As per a Bloomberg report, the plan for the show is to cover one season per Harry Potter book.
Warner Bros. Profits From Harry Potter
Warner Bros. is still trying to profit from Harry Potter, its most lucrative series, and it’s not unexpected that they’re moving from movies to TV.
Although Hogwarts Legacy has been successful since its release in February, the Fantastic Beasts movies have reportedly seen declining profits, which has resulted in the remaining two films in the series being halted.
During today’s streaming call, several major announcements were made, including the reveal of a new Game of Thrones prequel and The Conjuring TV series, in addition to the Harry Potter news.
