Why You Need To Improve Your Routine?

Usually, when I find that I do my skincare routines with less excitement, the inevitable has happened: I have begun to get bored with skincare.

Yes, really.

I find that I easily forget routines and this is the one thing you do not want to do if you really want good skin.

Luckily, skincare is designed so that if you are like me and have this problem, you’re actually more likely to enjoy your skincare journey.

Here’s why:

The only solution to this problem is adding new tools and products to your routine frequently, as well as constantly reading up about skincare and learning new things.

It’s a win-win!

You stay engaged in skincare and you’re always improving your routine.

A word of advice: Improving your routine doesn’t mean trying different products all the time. You could have a very stable routine and still spice it up.

How? Let’s get started.

Add a New Product to Your Routine

One way to keep yourself active and interested in skincare is by adding new products. Of course, you can change your moisturizer or sunscreen to a better brand but to keep yourself really interested, you can add entirely new and beneficial products.

These products can be used weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly. Here are some great examples:

Masks

To quote from Healthline, Dr. Nikhil Dhingra, a board-certified dermatologist of Spring Street Dermatology in New York says that “Face masks can be an effective way to deliver an intensive burst of nourishing and therapeutic skincare ingredients in a highly concentrated form.”

Facemasks come in so many forms and have varying benefits. Getting the best out of a mask depends on how well you pick one out. The right mask has to be effective and created for your skin type.

Scrubs

Just like masks, scrubs are a great way to exfoliate your skin. They also add a ton of other benefits. When it comes to scrubs, think big. Body scrubs, face scrubs, lip scrubs… the possibilities are exciting.

Eye Products

The skin around your eyes is very supple, even more than the rest of the skin on your face. This is why you should care for the skin around your eyes specially.

Investing in eye creams and eye masks is one way to ensure that you do all you can to avoid wrinkles near your eyes as you age.

However, remember that you should take special care when applying creams to the skin around your eyes. You shouldn’t just use any finger. Instead, use your ring finger since it is your weakest finger.

Here’s a video by Renée Rouleau Skin Care on Youtube.

Say Hello to the World of Skincare Tools and Appliances

Surprise! Skincare isn’t done with only products. There are a ton of tools available to skincare enthusiasts and they aren’t really pricey. Here’s a list of 3 tools you should look into getting.

Gel eye mask

If you often suffer from eye bags or dark eye circles, you might want to try gel eyes masks out. To quote Rapid Aid:

“Cold Gel eye masks add an extra layer of support by containing a soothing gel that reduces puffiness and dark circles under-eye. Cold eye mask specifically benefits the sensitive skin around the eyes.”

They also help reduce tension in your muscles and soothe headaches.

Facial brushes

To be fair, your fingers are enough to wash your face clean but, I am a giant sucker for facial brushes. They are just luxurious and a nice addition if you want to use skincare as a sort of self-care and indulge in it.

Just be sure to use facial brushes that are recommended and tested.

Supersonic shovel

This tool is a savior for people who have clogged pores. Supersonic shovels act like literal shovels and help scoop out the dirt in your pores.

Helpful hack: If you often have clogged pores with whiteheads or blackheads, invest in a lactic acid toner or serum.

Dos of Skincare

While improving your skincare, here are some things you’ll want to do.

  • Use only registered and tested products
  • Patch test before you use any products
  • Carry out your routines consistently
  • Invest in facials at least once a month.
  • Be on the lookout for hypoallergenic products

Don’ts of Skincare

Remember that your facial skin is very sensitive. Hence, there are a couple of things that you’ll want to stay away from.

  • Do not purchase facial products with fragrance, dye, or parabens- especially if your skin is sensitive
  • Don’t do too much. Remember that less is more. You do not need ten products on at once.
  • Don’t be too quick to change your basic products. If your $20 moisturizer works fine, you don’t need a $200 one.

Final Thoughts

Skincare can be an immensely helpful and beneficial journey. Don’t be afraid to put in more research and time into getting the right products and information that will improve your skin.

Skincare is meant to be enjoyed and remember: true beauty comes from inside.
