In the mid-1990s, Lachey and his friend Justin Jeffre started their singing career by performing at Kings Island. Later, they teamed up with his brother Drew and Jeff Timmons to form the boy band 98 Degrees.
The group was discovered by music manager Paris D’Jon and signed to Motown Records. The boy band 98 Degrees released several albums with Lachey as a member.
Lachey’s first solo album, “SoulO” (2003), was a commercial disappointment. His second album, “What’s Left of Me” (2006), was much more successful and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
