Football Career
Originally from New England, Chris Valletta relocated to Texas in the 1990s, where he observed Plano Senior School. There, he played as an offensive lineman for the Plano Senior Wildcats football team and contributed to their victory in the 5A State Championship in 1994.
In 1995, Valletta was recognized for his talent and chosen for the distinguished Parade All-American Team. He played as an offensive lineman for Texas A&M University from 1997 to 2000, earning All-Conference honors.
Valletta was part of the groups that earned the Big 12 South Championship in 1997. During his time at Texas A&M, the Aggie Bonfire collapsed during construction, resulting in the deaths of 12 people and injuries to 27 others.
During the following game, Valletta honored their memory by writing their names on a shirt under his jersey. He graduated in 2001 with a capacity in speech communication, rhetorical theory, and political science.
Valletta later completed the executive program in entrepreneurship from Harvard Business School in 2015. Valletta signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2001 as an undrafted free agent but was launched in August. He signed with the New Orleans Saints but was released in August 2002.
Valletta briefly played as Offensive Guard and Center on the practice squad for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but never appeared on their roster. Tampa Bay went on to win Super Bowl XXXVII that season, defeating the Oakland Raiders 48-21.
Professional career
After retiring from the NFL, Valletta began working in promotion sales at KRLD News Radio in Dallas. He even became the first rookie salesperson of the year in company history. He also started a real estate company called Big Tree Investments LLC.
In 2005, he was selected to be part of the fourth season of The Apprentice, which Donald Trump personally chose.
Valletta was fired after being the task manager for the losing team on a task that affected creating a 30-second television commercial and image ads for a new Lamborghini sports automobile. He also appeared on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch.
After The Apprentice, Valletta was named the senior director for business development at GoSMILE Inc., which markets tooth-whitening outcomes. It was co-founded by Josh Shaw, one of Valletta’s fellow Apprentice contestants.
Later, GoSMILE was acquired by investment firm JH Partners. Valletta is now the co-founder and general manager of Mission, a company that markets instant cooling products for active consumers who work or play in the heat.
Scientists, labor workers, and athletes like Serena Williams, Dwyane Wade, and Drew Brees researched and developed the products. Many of them are also stakeholders in the company. In 2012, Mission was named Sports Marketer of the Year by readers of NYSportsJournalism.
