Raleigh Father: Who Was He?
On February 8, 2023, the legendary pop composer Burt Bacharach passed away from natural causes, as confirmed by his publicist.
Tributes have been pouring in for the musical genius behind classics like “I Say A Little Prayer” and “Walk On By.” He passed away at 94 in his Los Angeles home.
Bacharach, hailed as one of pop’s greatest composers, has been remembered and honored by fans and fellow musicians on social media. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys referred to him as a “giant inside the music business,” while Dave Davies of the Kinks called him a “great inspiration.”
With over 70 top 40 hits in the US, it’s no surprise that Burt Bacharach had an estimated $160 million fortune. He leaves his money to his wife, Jane Hansen, and his children. His first daughter, Nikki Bacharach, died in 2007.
Her Step-Siblings
Raleigh step-sister, Lea Nikki, passed away at 40 after due to suicide.
Nikki, born in 1966, struggled with Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism, for many years.
In 1969, Burt dedicated a song to her, with the lyrics “Nikki, it’s you. Nikki, where can you be? It’s you, nothing but you for me. I’ve been so lonely since you went out, I won’t consume a happy day, til you’re around in my arms.” This emotional track was used as the theme for ABC’s Movie of the Week slot.
Burt’s eldest son, Christopher, was adopted by him and his third wife, Carole Bayer Sager. According to his LinkedIn, Cristopher is presently an Innovation Associate at Universal Music Group.
After nine years, Burt and Carole’s marriage ended in 1991, and Cristopher is rarely seen at public events, although he followed an AID help as a toddler in 1986.
Burt Bacharach Did Four Marriages
Burt Bacharach’s first marriage was to stage and television actress Paula Stewart, lasting five years until 1958.
His second union to actress Angie Dickinson lasted 15 years. They welcomed a daughter, Nikki into the world. However, the relationship came to an end in 1980.
In 1982, Burt married Carole Bayer Sager, a songwriter. The couple worked on several projects together during the 1980s, including “Heartlight” by Neil Diamond and “Arthur’s Music (Most Useful That You Can Do),” which won an Oscar for Best Original Song.
