A Georgia poll worker was the target of conspiracy theories spread by former president Donald Trump on his reality platform on social media.
On January 2, around midnight, Mr. Trump posted a message on Truth Social stating that Ruby Freeman, a Georgia election worker, had “contradictions” in her evidence to the Congressional Committee Hearing looking into the Capitol incident.
“Wow! Has anyone noticed the ‘inconsistencies’ in Ruby Freeman’s testimony under oath’?” He composed. “This is now “BIG STUFF.” Take a look at what the Cobb County officer’s body cameras recorded on January 4, 2021. Now, things turn pretty nasty.”
Second and third posts were subsequently made to the platform by Mr. Trump, who claimed that the 2020 elections were “ALL A FRAUD” and charged Ms. Freeman with electoral crimes.
In the third post, he asked, “What will the Fine State of Georgia do about the Ruby Freeman MESS?” and asserted that he was fighting against “the evils and deceit of the Extreme Left beasts who desire to see America die.”
The 2020 Election
Following the 2020 election, according to sources, Ms. Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss both Black women, were the focus of conspiracy theories from conservative election deniers.
The two, who’d already taken temporary positions counting ballots, are accused of being directly responsible for inserting fictitious votes for Joe Biden into the state’s voting apparatus.
Conservative conspiracy theories assert that footage of the women going about their business demonstrates that they were engaging in electoral crimes, citing a purported “suitcase” full of fictitious votes that aren’t visible.
The video appears not to depict any crimes being committed and does not use a suitcase; rather, it depicts a typical box used to convey ballots.
According to the source, the FBI urged Ms. Freeman to leave her house, close her business, and take refuge at a hidden place to avoid being attacked by nefarious Trump supporters.
In her testimony to the House Select Committee, Ms “I have no place where I feel secure. Nowhere.”
“Do you understand what it’s like to be the focus of the US president? Every American is meant to be represented by the president of the country. Not to single out any particular person,” Ms. Freeman reportedly said.
“He went after me. A loyal citizen of the United States who volunteered to assist Fulton County in conducting an election in the midst of a pandemic.”
