Jennifer Thompson, her husband Chuck Morris, and their son Charley went on a spring break vacation to a rented home in Arkansas.
Two days into their trip, Jennifer and her 12-year-old daughter Amelia went to town while Chuck and Charley went kayaking on the lake before a forecasted storm hit the area.
When Jennifer and Amelia returned to their Airbnb, they assumed that Chuck and Charley were still enjoying their time outdoors since it hadn’t started raining.
But as time passed, they became worried and started moving around the area, exploring for the men. Later that afternoon, they reported Chuck and Charley missing to the authorities.
Since then, family, buddies, and foreigners have joined regulation enforcement in conducting daily searches of the area in hopes of finding Chuck and Charley.
Multiple agencies, including police dog units from Oklahoma, Illinois, and Louisiana, have been brought in to assist in the search.
While they have seen kayaks, a jacket, and what could be a hat or glove in the area, there is still no sign of Chuck or Charley.
Family Fears Loved Ones Drowned In A Kayaking Accident
Jennifer believes it’s possible that Chuck and Charley drowned in the lake, as winds rose to about 35 miles per hour while kayaking and neither had worn life jackets.
The family had planned their spring break vacation to reconnect amid a stressful year after moving to Kansas City from Denver in August.
Chuck had many music connections in Denver, toured for some time with Lotus, and worked on renovating their first home.
Jennifer started a new job, their daughter attended a new school, and Charley returned to Ohio Wesleyan University. Their spring break trip was supposed to allow the family to relax and unwind together.
Wife And Mother Tirelessly Searches For Missing Family Members
Jennifer spends all day, every day, searching for her husband and son before returning to her sister’s home in Springdale to sleep.
Family and friends have flown in from out of shape to help with the efforts, and they’ve turned their Airbnb into the family’s control post with maps riding all over the windows.
Strangers have also asked to help with the investigation. A mate started a GoFundMe that has raised nearly $55,000 to support the family pay for tracking efforts, treatment, and possible funeral services.
In Arkansas and Charley’s college, community members have hosted prayer vigils for the two men. Jennifer describes both Chuck and Charley as patient and good-hearted. Chuck is a loving father and partner, and Charley is a great friend who believes in doing what’s right, even if it doesn’t come with a reward.
He enjoys music and cross-country running at Ohio Wesleyan. Jennifer’s sister Laura Ibanez is horrified by the information and attempts to support the family in any way she can.
She characterizes Charley as a devoted son, a capable student, and an exceptional, consistently kind athlete.
She is convinced that Chuck and Charley have always been mild-mannered and have never witnessed them lose their temper. It’s a truly lovely family, she said.
