The Jets quarterback Mike White, who opened seven games over the previous two seasons, has committed to a two-year, $16 million contract with the Dolphins. He will serve as Tua Tagovailoa’s backup in Florida.
Since White was raised in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and went South Florida before moving to Western Kentucky, this is a homecoming for him.
The Jets showed some desire to bring White back, but it didn’t feel right for them because they were looking for a very expensive quarterback and already had Zach on the roster.
White’s most special juncture with the Jets came in 2021 when he began replacing a damaged Wilson against the Bengals, throwing for 405 yards and showing the Jets a surprising 34-31 upset of Cincinnati, which would move on to gain the AFC.
After the match, his teammates guided him to Mike “Effin” White, and he evolved into a resident hero. However, he injured his arm in the Jets’ next play against the Colts, missing 2 matches before returning against the Seahawks in a game he never examined like himself.
The Jets Selected White
The Jets selected White, and he had a go at capturing the long-term starting appointment if he had not been hurt. Now, he will be in a rival gang. In other news, the Jets re-signed kicker Greg Zuerlein to a deal whose terms were not immediately available.
Zuerlein joined the Jets last year and achieved the kicker job out of training camp, making 30 of 37 field goal attempts, such as a franchise-record 60-yarder against the Vikings.
He missed only one extra point in 29 attempts, and the Jets believe they have solved their revolving door issue at kicker with Zuerlein, who made six field goals 50 yards or longer last season.
