The creator and star of “Rick and Morty,” an animated adult comedy on Cartoon Network, is facing charges of domestic assault.
According to NBC News, Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith’s co-creator and voice actor Justin Roiland, 42, was accused of felony domestic assault concerning a 2020 tragedy in California’s Orange County.
As per reports, the Emmy winner showed up in court on Thursday for a pre-trial hearing regarding the accusations of domestic abuse with corporal injury and unlawful imprisonment.
Roiland initially pleaded not guilty to the vague accusation made by the lady he was dating.

According to reports, Roiland was prosecuted in October 2020, the same month a protection order was filed, after being released on a $50,000 bail in August 2020.
Since then, the matter had gone through more than a dozen hearings, but many of the specifics were kept under wraps because of the order of protection, the site reported.
Unknown to who had submitted the order, neither Roiland nor his attorney had responded to the network’s request for information.
The 6th show of “Rick and Morty,” a popular sci-fi-themed program premiered in 2013, was broadcast last year.
In addition to developing the video game “High on Life,” selling NFT collection, and conventional art, Roiland has also begun the Hulu series “Solar Opposites” and “Koala Man.”
Roiland’s attorney T. Edward Welbourn claimed in a report that media attention to the incident has been “inaccurate.”
In addition to the fact that Justin is guilty, Welbourn stated, “To be fair, we have every confidence that this case will be dropped after the District Attorney’s office has finished its systematic assessment of the evidence.”
“We anticipate clearing Justin’s name and assisting him in making the best possible progress.”
