A retired NFL and Ole Miss football player were taken into custody last week on accusations of kidnap.
According to jail documents, Jerrell Powe, 35, was checked into the Madison County Correctional Facility in Mississippi.
Ridgeland Police Commander Brian Myers stated that Powe was apprehended at a Chase Bank on Highlands Colony Parkway. Jackson, Mississippi, is only 12 miles north of Ridgeland.
Nearly 100 miles beyond Ridgeland, in Laurel, Mississippi, according to Myers, the situation began there.
According to Myers, Gavin Bates, 35, was detained and accused of kidnapping.
Myers Confirmed The Victim’s Safety
Myers confirmed the victim’s safety to the media outlet. According to reports, the victim claimed that he was taken “without his will” and forced to make a bank withdrawal.
Thus according to reports, the Ridgeland Police Dept stated that police arrived at the Chase Bank at 1:40 p.m.
Powe is now being kept without bond at the Madison District Correctional Facility in anticipation of a hearing.
Powe joined the Ole Miss team in 2008.
His selection came inside the 6 phase of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Before joining the Washington Redskins, currently called the Commanders, in 2015, he competed for the Houston Texans.
