Kassi Canfield’s mother describes the sixth-grader at Dempsey Middle School as generous and caring. He was 13 years old.
He adored literature, game consoles, anime, and helping others.
Canfield stated, “I’ve witnessed him do it. He donated his hoodie to the young youngster because he was cold.”
Canfield claims that Ethan, a representative of the LGBTQ community, had battled depression.
Ethan Jacobsen, 13, took his own life last Monday.
She said I’m both upset that it occurred because it shouldn’t have been and sad that it did. “Followed by a mix of sadness over losing my young son. He was my newborn.”
In the days following his passing, Canfield said she had grounds for thinking Ethan could have been the subject of bullying.
She stated, “A few of his acquaintances claimed that he had been bullied at school.”
What Delaware City School Stated?
According to Delaware City School, neither Ethan nor his family lodged a grievance. Canfield claims this is because Ethan never brought it up, and she wasn’t aware of it.
She assured him that she wouldn’t have remained silent if she had known about it.
Supervisor Heidi Kegley informs 10TV in a statement.
We advise any student with problems whether related to problems at home or at school to speak with a dependable school adult.
Additionally, the district offers a monitored, 24-hour Public Education hotline to address worries and concerns anonymously.

Because his voice was taken away, Canfield explained. “And I wish to return it.”
Canfield wants more people to become enraged and speak up about bullying, mental well-being, and under-resourced communities.
Additionally, she claims that bullies are unaware of the harm they are doing.
He was such a wonderful young man, she said. He was a spark that was extinguished far too quickly.
