A fast-moving web rumor asserts that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (CIA) assassinated a man because of a purportedly giant-showing film.
A man uploaded a TikTok video that shows a “giant” on a Canadian mountain last spring. The footage is blurry, and given the vantage point where it was taken, it is impossible to pick out the individual.
However, TikTok soon gained popularity, amassing 2 million views in a few days. It has received 8 million views as of this writing.
The TikTok Andrew Dawson (@andykapt), who captioned the video “it’s a giant,” stated, “It’s a person.”
The alleged giant is a dark shape perched atop a distant, snow-capped peak. The person in the car didn’t seem to be buying it. They responded, “No, it’s not.”
Dawson published posts responding to the video to “research” the alleged monster. He claimed that a CIA officer had halted him & that somebody was pursuing him in later messages.
He added that the behemoth had vanished and questioned whether a UFO had taken it. He wrote, “Did the creature on the hill go home?
Weeks later, Dawson posted a TikTok apologizing for everything being a lie.
He remarked, “Sorry to let you guys down, however all of the vids I released were staged, just phoney, strictly for fun.”
A few days later, he published a new TikTok, asserting that the earlier videos regarding the giant and the CIA were authentic.
“I’m afraid,” the caption on the screen stated. You might never see me write again, Dawson warned. My lips weren’t staged.
He made one more post before going dark.
Dawson died on July 1. He was only 34 years old.
For months, rumors that the CIA was engaged in his killing and questions regarding the circumstances of his death circulated online.
A podcast on myths, including the Monster of Loch Ness and Sasquatch, blogged about Dawson’s passing in October.
They said that a week before his passing, Dawson acknowledged in an Instagram personal message that the claims he made in his films regarding the monster and the CIA were “all bogus.” Dawson further muddied the waters in texts by writing, “I didn’t tell anything about it….. It didn’t happen,” much similar to what he has done on TikTok.
