Irish broadcaster Eamonn Holmes becomes a first-time grandfather, and he’s very excited about it. Son Declan and daughter-in-law Jenny welcomed the baby girl.
While hosting the show This Morning with his wife Ruth, Holmes announced the arrival of their granddaughter. He teased Ruth, said that something has changed since I last saw you, to which Ruth added, “You’re a granddad.”
The presenter explained that his son Declan and wife Jenny are happy parents who welcomed little Amelia into the world. She’s seven pounds and six ounces.
Eamonn and his wife also discussed what Amelia would call him. He said that he’d like his grandchildren to call him Papa. Ruth congratulated her son and daughter-in-law and told them that they couldn’t wait to meet their little granddaughter.
The new granddad couldn’t stop smiling as he talked about his little Amelia and explained that he was pleased.
Eamonn has three children, Declan, Niall, and daughter Rebecca, who recently got engaged; with ex-wife Gabrielle. Eamonn and Ruth have a son Jack, born in 2002.
Earlier this year, Holmes and Ruth announced that Jenny and Declan are expecting their first child. Eamonn brought up a picture of his son and daughter-in-law and said they are Declan and Jenny and that Declan is his eldest boy.
Declan told his father that he and Gabrielle, and Valerie, and Robin, Jenny’s parents, will be grandparents.
It is natural to be overwhelmed at such a moment. Eamonn stated that when he got the news, he was excited. He added that he was in tears when he received the big news.
Ruth was equally happy about the granddaughter’s arrival, and her excitement was quite visible. We wish the happy couple a blessed child.
