Interview With MAGDA FREITAS

When it comes to turning insecurities into empowerment, few names in the beauty and wellness industry carry as much weight as Magda Freitas. A Brazilian-born expert now based in New York City, Magda is the founder of Visage New York, a high-end destination for transformative aesthetic treatments that go far beyond surface beauty.

Her clinic specializes in Advanced ISR™️ Inkless Rejuvenation, scar and stretch mark camouflage, scalp micropigmentation, tattoo removal, eyebrow microblading and other paramedical services tailored for real, lasting change. Magda’s clients range from everyday individuals to celebrities and medical recovery patients—many of whom come in seeking more than just flawless results. They’re looking to feel confident in their skin again.

What sets Magda apart isn’t just her technique—it’s her purpose. Whether she’s blending pigments to match every skin tone or helping someone erase the physical reminders of past trauma, her work combines clinical precision, artistic vision, symmetry correction and a deep understanding of emotional healing. At her clinic, beauty isn’t about trends—it’s about transformation.

In this exclusive Fashionuer interview, Magda shares her journey from Brazil to NYC, reveals the truth behind PMU and inkless skin rejuvenation, and discusses how she’s using advanced aesthetics to help clients reclaim their power—one needle at a time.

The Interview: Magda Freitas

1. Can you tell us about your journey—what first drew you to the world of permanent makeup and paramedical aesthetics?
It started with a fascination for transformation—not just on the surface, but deep within. I’ve always believed beauty is tied to confidence. When I saw how permanent makeup could restore that confidence, especially for people with scars or hair loss, I knew this was my calling.

2. From Brazil to NYC, what inspired your transition into the U.S. beauty market?
I wanted to challenge myself and bring my techniques to one of the most competitive beauty hubs in the world. NYC demands precision, artistry, and constant innovation—and that environment pushed me to become the best version of myself as both an artist and entrepreneur.

3. You’re now a recognized expert in the PMU world—was there a particular moment or breakthrough that defined your career?
Yes—launching Visage New York was a major turning point. But more personally, is seeing a client crying, telling  me how confident she feels for the first time in years—that moment validated everything.

4. You offer some incredibly advanced services, including Advanced ISR™️ Inkless Rejuvenation. For those new to it—what exactly is it, and how does it work?
Advanced ISR is a non-pigment-based technique that rejuvenates damaged skin from the inside out. We stimulate collagen and repair texture naturally. It’s not camouflage—it’s real healing, and it’s changing lives.

5. Stretch marks and scar camouflage has become a life-changing treatment for many—what makes your approach different or more effective?
I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Every skin tone, scar type, and healing pattern is unique. I combine precise color theory, advanced technique, and aftercare education to ensure results that are both beautiful and lasting.

6. Can you walk us through a typical client transformation—how do you combine technique with aesthetics?
It starts with understanding the “why” behind the appointment. Is it insecurity? A trauma? Then I blend my technical training with emotional sensitivity. Whether it’s scalp micropigmentation or stretch mark work, my goal is always to create harmony—visually and emotionally.

7. How do you ensure natural, confidence-boosting results when working with something as personal as a person’s skin history?
It’s all about listening first. Then comes layering my knowledge—skin science, technique, healing timelines. I treat every case with care, because it’s not just skin I’m working on—it’s someone’s story.

8. Many still confuse PMU with regular tattoos. What’s the biggest misconception people have about microblading, tattoo removal, and scalp micropigmentation?
That it’s just cosmetic or superficial. PMU is highly specialized and requires an in-depth understanding of anatomy, pigment behavior, and healing. Also, it fades! It’s designed to age with your skin, not stain it forever.

9. With tattoo removal, especially, how do you balance effectiveness with skin safety?
By avoiding shortcuts. I use gentle yet effective methods, such as chemical removal, instead of harsh lasers when possible. And I always educate my clients—it’s a process, and skin health comes first.

10. How does your work go beyond beauty? What’s the emotional transformation you often witness?
I see people stand taller. Smile more. Book that vacation. Wear a swimsuit. These treatments help people reclaim ownership of their bodies, and that ripple effect touches every part of their life.

11. The beauty industry is evolving fast. What do you think is the future of PMU and paramedical aesthetics?
We’re moving toward more regenerative, non-invasive, and holistic approaches. Clients want healing and natural results, not just cover-ups. I think the future is in blending aesthetics with wellness science.

12. Are there any innovations or trends you’re currently excited about, or perhaps skeptical of?
I’m excited about next-gen inkless therapies. What I’m cautious about are social media trends that prioritize viral appeal over long-term skin health. Not everything trending is safe or ethical.

13. What advice would you give to aspiring PMU artists or those looking to enter the world of scar and stretch mark camouflage?
Invest in real education. Master color theory. Understand trauma. This field isn’t just about beauty—it’s about empathy and precision. And never stop learning. Trends evolve, but good technique lasts.

14. What’s one mistake you see beginners make too often—and how can they avoid it?
Chasing speed over quality. It’s better to take longer and protect the skin than to rush for “Instagram-perfect” results. Clients trust us with their skin—you have to earn that trust with skill.

15. Running a clinic in NYC must be intense. What are some challenges and rewards of working in such a fast-paced beauty capital?
The challenge? High expectations—everyone here is savvy and selective. The reward? Constant inspiration. You meet people from every walk of life, and the energy here fuels your creativity like nowhere else.

16. How do you balance clinical precision with the creativity required in PMU?
By treating every procedure as both art and science. You need an artist’s eye for detail and a technician’s mindset for safety. That balance is where the magic happens.

17. When you’re not transforming lives with your ink, what’s your favorite way to unwind?
I love walking along 5th Avenue, checking my favorite stores and just watching the city move. And if I really need to unplug—spa days and Brazilian music at home always do the trick.

18. And finally, what does beauty mean to you?
Beauty is feeling confident in your own skin—no filter, no hiding. It’s a reflection of self-love, resilience, and truth. My job is just to help people see that in themselves.
