Christina Whittaker’s case is known across the nation. Recently, it has marked the 10th painful anniversary of her disappearance. Indeed her disappearance was very unusual, leaving no clues except for her cell phone near the bar where she was last seen.
But even that was not sufficient. That’s because it went through multiple hands before it reached the hands of the police.
First of all, the phone was discovered by Danny Baker, a stranger who went through Cristina Whittaker’s phone and recognized her aunt.
Then the phone was delivered to the aunt, which was received by Christina’s partner afterwards. Then, it went to the mother before returning to Christina’s partner one more time and then finally handed over to the police.
It is a case where you’ll find contradictory statements, insufficient eyewitness accounts, and a long chase leading to an insufficient number of clues that lead investigators nowhere.
The online community has contributed by coming up with multiple theories. However, those theories are just guesses without considering a shred of evidence.
Amidst all of what is happening regarding Christina Whittaker’s case, Lt. Nacke commented on the online community’s behavior regarding the case “We would prefer that people don’t be the judge of the credibility of their information.” Lt. added, “Let us try to determine that. If we don’t get that information, it creates some frustration out on our end, so we just want to encourage everyone to talk about it.“

Who Is Christina Whittaker & What Happened To Her?
For those of you who just started following the story, here’s what happened. Christina Whittaker is a girl who went missing back in 2009.
But, now you may wonder why that is different from any other disappearance? After all, there are many such cases happening on a daily basis. So, how is that any different?
First of all – Sadly, you are right. There are many cases of disappearance happening on a daily basis in the same area, but no controversy seems to be sparking the issue. And hardly can anyone can comment on that.
However, what we can tell you is what happened in the case. On the 13th of November 2009, Christina Whittaker went out to a local spot in her town known as “Rookie’s Sports Bar” at 611 Broadway with her friends.
Christina Whittaker was 21 years old at the time and was a mother of a six months old girl. It was her first night out after becoming a mother, as reported by My True Crime Stories.
She reached the bar and started acting out. She was getting increasingly intoxicated. Ultimately, she had to leave the bar and go to another one by the name of Sportsman’s Bar. That’s where she was last seen.
That being said, let’s move towards discussing what really happened to Christina Whittaker in detail. We’ll look at her disappearance step by step and highlight what went wrong.
What Happened When Christina Whittaker Reached The Rookie’s Bar AT 8:45 PM?
Christina Whittaker was 21 years when she mysteriously disappeared. Her little girl Alexandria was just six months old at the time. Christina went out for her first night out after becoming a mother.
Christina and her friends went out to a bar, but she became increasingly intoxicated. Eyewitnesses say that she started to fight staff and local patrons too.
However, there is a detail that hides beneath that as well.
Christina Whittaker’s mother says that she was mentally fragile. In addition to that, Cristina was also prone to child-like behavior. My True Crime story also suggests that Cristina suffered from anxiety attacks, fibromyalgia, and bipolar disorder.
Please keep that in perspective and now realize the danger of Christina going out on a night out with her friends. Alcohol likely interferes with medications to treat these medical conditions.
So no wonder she was having problems behaving properly. It is reported that she reached the local spot known as Rookie’s bar at around 8:45 PM. And by the time she was forced to leave the bar, it was about 11:45 PM.
Christina Whittaker Reaches Sportsman’s Bar After 11:45 PM.
Soon it became almost impossible for the bar staff to entertain Christina Whittaker anymore. Hence, they asked her to leave the bar at around 11:45 PM.
According to her mother, Cindy Young, Christina Whittaker pleaded with the bartender to let her stay in the bar. However, the bartender refused to entertain her further.
What’s striking about this scenario is Cindy’s behavior was very aggressive, according to the eyewitnesses. But her mother’s account of her behavior is the one that pleads the bartender to let her stay inside.
Both accounts that report Cindy Whittaker’s behavior on the spot are truly contradictory. And that is what you are going to experience throughout this case.
Some accounts discussing Christina’s last known moments are clearly contradictory.
So after she stepped out of the Rookie’s bar, she went to Sportsman’s Bar, which is located on South 7th Street. It is located on the very next block.
That is where her phone was found by a man named Danny Baker – don’t worry, we’ll talk about it later.
What Was Christina Whittaker Doing In The Sportsman Bar?
The bartender says that Christina was arguing with a man on her phone. Luckily, the bartender knew Christina Whittaker and her family. He says that he offered to call her a cab to help her reach home safely.
However, Christina Whittaker left the bar, so the bartender couldn’t make that call. Travis, her partner at the time, called Christina’s mother, Cindy Young, the next morning because Christina Whittaker didn’t come home.
Christina Whittaker Is Finally Reported Missing To The Police – November 2009
Travis Blackman, the partner of Christina Whittaker at the time, had to go office on Saturday, 14th of November 2009. When he saw that Whittaker had still not reached home, he immediately called her mother to inform her of Christina’s absence.
The family waited for any leads on her until noon and then finally reported Christina Whittaker “missing” to the local police department. On that day, Christina’s phone was discovered by a man named Danny Baker.
Let’s now take a close look at what happened and how that phone travelled from multiple hands before finally reaching the hands of the police.
Christina’s phone was found by a man named Danny Baker. The phone was found near the Sportsman’s Bar.
Danny Baker went through Christina Whittaker’s phone and recognized her aunt. Then, the man took her phone to the aunt at around 9:00 AM. Then, the aunt calls Travis, Christina’s partner, to come and pick up the phone.
Travis was working in his office at the time. So as he got off his job, he picked up the phone from his aunt around 5:30 PM on Saturday, 14th of November 2009.
Christina’s mother, Cindy Young, goes through the messages and call logs the next day – upon finding everything, as usual, she hands the phone over to Travis, who then turns the phone into the hands of the police.
Christina Whittaker Update 2022
Today, it has been ten painful years since Christina Whittaker’s mysterious disappearance. It is no less than a trauma for her family and, of course, her now 10-year-old daughter Alexandria.
Her mother hasn’t been able to recover from the incident fully. Cindy Young, Christina Whittaker’s mother, still believes that she is alive. Christina’s mother said, “Christina, if you see this, honey, please contact me,” in one of her interviews.
She further added, “Please give just a call. No one’s going to make you do anything you don’t want to do. We all need you. We need you back home. You don’t have to come if you don’t want, but at least call me and let me know you’re okay”.
Cindy Young added, “I need to hear your voice. I just want you to know I love you with all my heart. You’re my little hero, little survivor. I’m so proud of you. You’ve got nothing to be ashamed of.”
Over To You…
Christina Whittaker is a name that has been around in the news for a while now. Details regarding her case are going wildly public now.
Internet articles, blog posts, and news across the nation are helping raise the case’s awareness among the general public.
As a consequence, however, multiple theories are getting made and circulated regarding the case as well. Unfortunately, none of those theories leads us anywhere because they are not supported by a shred of evidence.
That is one of the most difficult parts of this case. There are no pieces of evidence. And if there was to be one, which was her mobile, it went through multiple hands before reaching the police.
Now the question is, what we can do as public to help authorities find out more about Christina Whittaker? Constantly talking about it will help seemingly.
Creating a buzz around a topic helps raise more awareness – and you never know when you’ll find a good lead. And that is what the investigators working on the case want from us.
The Hannibal police department has interviewed more than 200 people up until now. It seems to be very difficult to find a good lead in this case.
There is no doubt that there is very little that Christina Whittaker has left behind in terms of evidence.
Even after ten years, we hope that Christina Whittaker is alive, and we may just find her any day. Do you know something else about the case? What would you like to add to the post? Let us know!
