As per reports, Afton Smith was not anywhere near to being a celebrity until she met Brendan Fraser, who was in his prime at that time.
It is said that they met in Los Angeles. Basically, the renowned American actress, Winona Ryder, threw a barbeque party at her place, and both Afton and Brendan were invited.
That is where their paths, eyes, hearts, and fates crossed. They both fell in love with each other on the spot.
Brendan and Afton dated for some time and decided to get married. On the 27th of September 1998 in California, these love birds tied the knot and made it official.
Four years later, the Fraser family welcomed a son named Griffin Arthur Fraser in 2002.
Then after two years, in 2004, Holden Fletcher Fraser was born, and Leland Francis Fraser (their third son) was born two years after Holden, in 2006.

What Went Wrong?
A happy family of five, including three handsome kids and two loving parents; what can possibly go wrong then?
Before moving on, keep in mind that I’m not claiming anything; I’m guessing they were having some financial issues.
I’m saying this because one year after the birth of their third son, Leland, Brendan sold his Beverly Hills house for about three million$ in 2007.
Why? That’s a mystery. Some months after the house deal, in December 2007, it was revealed that Afton Smith and Brendan Fraser were getting divorced.
The divorce matter went to court, and the court gave its verdict in favor of Afton, ordering Brendan to pay Afton around 50,000$ every month for about ten years or until Afton remarries.
Moreover, Fraser was ordered to give Afton an extra 25,000$ for the kids. In total, Fraser was legally bound to pay 75,000$ to his ex-wife every month for ten years.
He should’ve stayed married, don’t you think? If you want numbers, then the amount would’ve summed up to 900,000$ every year.
That means, as per the court’s ruling, Brendan Fraser had to pay a collective amount of a whopping nine million$ to Afton Smith in a 10-years-period.
I’ll say it again, “he should’ve stayed married, don’t you think?” What do you think Brendan did after calculating all this? Several years after the ruling, in 2013, he went to court again.
Brendan requested a reduction in the monthly payments, as it was becoming more and more challenging for him to pay that much money to his ex-wife.
Afton Smith claimed that he was hiding his valuable assets to get a reduction. The court ordered the couple to share the custody of their kids, to which they both agreed.
Currently, Brendan Fraser resides in Bedford, New York, while Afton, along with her three kids, resides in Greenwich, Connecticut.
