Charles Johnson was heartbroken by Kira Johnson’s death from a hemorrhage following the delivery of their second son and turned into an activist for maternal health as a result.
Charles Johnson never imagined that he would leave Cedars-Sinai Medical Clinic without his wife Kira for the delivery of their second child.
Kira led an incredible life and was educated in 5 languages. She had a pilot’s license, she drove cars, and ran events. Her husband adored her inexpressibly.
According to Johnson, “We had a big plan to raise kids that would alter the world.”
The planned cesarean surgery for Kira should have been regular, typical surgical delivery for a healthy, straightforward pregnancy.
What Happened When Their 2nd Son Was Born?
Soon after their healthy son Langston was born, Johnson saw that his wife’s recovery was not possible.
Kira’s catheter began to turn pink. I garnered attention to it, and the staff ordered various tests, along with a Computed tomography that was meant to be done immediately, he claims.
It was only around 4 p.m., yet a full hour later, doctors had still not scheduled a CT scan for the patient.
She was also becoming more sensitive to touching and losing color. By nine o’clock that night, Johnson asked a nurse why they had never taken her to the scans.
However, the woman remarked, “Sir, your spouse simply isn’t a focus right now,” looking me straight in the eyes.”
After midnight, staffers finally took Kira out of her triage area and brought her to the surgery room.
Johnson remembers Kira looking at him and stating, “Baby, I’m terrified,” as they moved down the hallway.
“One of the medical professionals said, “It’s not a big agreement; these things happen occasionally. She’ll be returning in a half-hour.”
However, Johnson had last seen his wife when she was in the hospital.
