Payton Gendron’s parents are Paul and Pamela Gendron. However, the calm of Buffalo’s Tops Friendly Supermarket was shattered on the dreadful day of May 14, 2022, when an active shooter wreaked havoc and horror throughout the store.
The catastrophe, which caused many deaths, shocked everyone in the neighborhood and beyond.
According to a statement made by Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia, a startling 10 of the 13 victims of the horrific incident died.
Four store employees were injured, and an unsettling 11 casualties were of African American heritage.
Payton, the suspect, was captured by law enforcement in connection with the horrifying crime.
Payton was wearing military attire when he was arrested, and he was seen carrying a Bushmaster XM-15 semiautomatic rifle while broadcasting live on Twitch.
Payton was accused of committing, among other serious felonies, hate crimes that resulted in death and hate crimes involving an attempt to kill.
About 10 days before the horrific circumstances at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where Salvador Ramos murdered 19 pupils and two teachers, the situation swiftly attracted national notice.
On February 15, 2023, Payton was sentenced to life in prison, bringing some measure of closure to the relatives and treasured ones of the victims after a protracted and arduous judicial process.

Payton’s parents were identified as defendants in a lawsuit by Zaire Goodman in June 2022 due to Payton’s heinous behavior in the Buffalo shooting.
After being shot in the throat during the incident, Goodman managed to escape and file a lawsuit against Payton’s parents.
According to reports, Paul and Pamela Gendron were either aware of or ought to have known about their son’s racist and violent inclinations, according to Buffalo attorney Terrence M. Connors, who was representing Goodman.
Connors claimed in court records that despite knowing Payton Gendron had a history of violence and prejudice, the Gendrons “failed to use reasonable care to prohibit Payton Gendron from so brutally conducting himself as to willfully damage others.”
Payton’s parents were also charged with being “careless, negligent, and irresponsible” by Connors for allowing their son to obtain firearms and keep them at their Conklin, New York home.
Paul and Pamela Gendron were ultimately found not responsible for their son’s conduct, and he received a life term for his horrifying hate crime rampage.
