Who Was Frederick Christ Trump?

Frederick Christ Trump, better known as Fred Trump, was a prominent American real-estate developer and the father of former US President Donald Trump.

Born and raised in NYC, he started his entrepreneurial journey at 15 when he founded his own construction business in partnership with his mother, Elizabeth Trump.

Initially, Fred Trump’s construction company focused on building car garages but gradually expanded to constructing apartment houses, barracks, and apartments near shipyards for the US Navy staff during World War II.

He also built single-family apartment complexes for returning servicemen and middle-income group people. In his career, he constructed more than 27,000 apartments in and around New York City.

Despite his success, Fred Trump faced legal troubles during his career. He was investigated for profiteering from public contracts during wartime.

Additionally, he faced a racial discrimination lawsuit filed by the Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice for violating the Fair Housing Act.

Frederick Christ Trump’s Personal Life

Frederick Christ Trump or Fred Trump married Mary Anne, and they had five children together. He had Alzheimer’s disease and passed away at 93.

Born on October 11, 1905, in The Bronx, New York City, Fred Trump was the second of three children of his parents.

His father was a barber from Kallstadt, Germany, who had earned a small fortune during the Klondike Gold Rush but died due to flu when Fred was 13. Fred Trump grew up with his elder sister and younger brother.

He attended Richmond Hill High School in Queens, where he developed an interest in construction and business.

At age 15, he founded his own construction company with his mother and named it “E. Trump & Son.”

The company’s initial focus was building automobile garages, and it eventually became a highly successful real estate development firm.

Who Was Mary Anne Trump?

Mary Anne Trump, also known as Mary Trump, was a Scottish-American domestic worker and the wife of Fred Trump, a real-estate developer.

She was also the mother of Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States. Mary Trump was born on May 10, 1912, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, and she immigrated to the United States in 1930.

Mary was the youngest of ten children born to Malcolm and Mary MacLeod, and she grew up in a Scottish Gaelic-speaking household.

Her paternal grandparents were Alexander and Ann MacLeod, while her maternal grandparents were Donald Smith and Mary MacAulay.

Mary Anne Trump’s Personal Life

During the mid-1930s, MacLeod resided with her sister in Queens where she attended a party and met Fred Trump, who was already an established property developer and builder at the time.

After returning to Scotland, she informed her family that she had met her future spouse.

They exchanged their vows on January 11, 1936, at the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in a ceremony officiated by George Arthur Buttrick.

The reception for 25 guests took place at the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan, and they later spent their vacation in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
