In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionuer editors revisit their all-time favorite looks.
I feel like I have permission to begin thinking about summer costumes now that the heat is rising: Beautiful clothes! Novelty prints! Footwear! Accessories galore! The first two are top of mind, since we’re seeing so many brands release vintage-inspired, cartoon-like graphics ranging from florals to fruit in recent seasons. One example Team Fashionuer still thinks about is the produce-covered Sandy Liang dress Greta Lee wore to the premiere of the final season of “Girls” in New York City in 2017.
Dara identified this style in under a minute and pulled up the Shopbop product page. Lee has supported the brand for years, wearing it on numerous red carpets and appearing in campaigns.
This particular style often works on the red carpet as well as on a picnic in the park. I love that the actress didn’t accessorize and kept her footwear simple, with beige satin pointed-toe stilettos, so that the fun print really stands out.
Summer Dress Weather isn’t quite here yet (and the Guava Dress may be long gone), but you can make your fruit-printed look spring-appropriate by wearing it with a Sandy Liang fleece. Recreate the look in the gallery, below.
