Jones’s deal is worth $160 million, with $82 million guaranteed at signing and potential incentive payments of up to $35 million. However, Barkley will receive $10.091 million in 2023 due to the joint ownership franchise offer.
Giants general manager Joe Schoen had previously stated that the team aimed to retain both players, which became possible thanks to the long-term value for Jones. “We had constructive discussions with Daniel and his agents over the course of the past week or so,” Schoen stated in a news release announcing the deal.
