The former Canadian ice hockey pro, Jarret Lee Stoll, began his minor hockey career in Saskatchewan.
Before transferring to Melville and later Yorkton, where he assisted the Yorkton Bantam AAA Terriers in winning the 1997 Western Canadian Championship, he played for Neudorf.
While living in Yorkton, Stoll went to Sacred Heart High School and St. Paul’s Elementary School.
His younger sister Ashley played for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women’s hockey team, while his older brother Kelly represented the Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
After taking home the bantam title, Stoll joined the Saskatoon Blazers of the Saskatchewan Midget Triple-A Hockey League.
While living in Saskatoon, he attended St. Joseph High School. Stoll began his Western Hockey League (WHL) career in 1997-98 with the Edmonton Ice after being selected first in the 1997 WHL Bantam Draft.
Stoll spent the entirety of his junior WHL career with the Kootenay Ice team. In his third season, he was chosen as team captain. In his last junior year, 2001–2002, he led the Ice to a Memorial Cup victory.
The Calgary Flames chose him in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. However, he never signed a contract with them.
During his junior career, Stoll represented his nation at the World Junior Hockey Championships twice, in 2001 and 2002, taking home bronze and silver medals, respectively. In 2002, he was appointed captain of Team Canada.
After playing for Kootenay, Stoll joined the Oilers’ organization and made his NHL debut in 2002. He spent the 2003–04 season with the Oilers and the 2004–05 lockout season with the AHL’s Edmonton Roadrunners.
In 2005–06, Stoll rejoined the Oilers and went on to set a team record and play in the playoffs for the first time.
In the 2007–2008 season, he was selected as an Oilers alternate captain.
