Ascension To Fame
Mor Shapiro’s fascination with the interplay between the mind and the body inspired her to study psychology as an undergraduate at the University of California, Los Angeles.
After graduating, she delved deeper into the topic by researching developmental neuroscience at UCLA, using fMRI to examine the impact of early life adversities on children’s brain development.
This work fueled her desire to become a medical doctor, and she went on to earn her MD degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. While in medical school, Mor honed her skills as a Clinical Skills Instructor.
She rose to prominence as a medical practitioner and gained media attention after tying the knot with Ben Shapiro in 2008.
Personal Life
Mor Shapiro, originally known as Mor Toledano, was born in 1988 in Herzliya, Israel, into a family with a Moroccan Jewish background.
Growing up in Israel, Mor moved to Sacramento, California, at 12. Her interest in the mind-body relationship led her to study psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles, before enrolling in the David Geffen School of Medicine.
While in medical school, Mor was part of an a capella group, though she humorously acknowledged her inability to sing. Nevertheless, she is passionate about the arts, including crafts and drawing.
In her free time, Mor enjoys spending time with her family and indulging in popular shows like “Game of Thrones” or “Friends,” and going to musical theater productions like “Wicked” and “Pippin.”
Relationships
Mor and Ben Shapiro had a long-term relationship before getting engaged in 2007. They tied the knot in a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony held in Acre, Israel, in July 2008, with a beautiful view of the ocean sunset. The special occasion was even more memorable, with Ben’s father composing the emotional processional music.
In 2014, the pair welcomed their first kid, a daughter named Leeya Eliana, with Mor courageously enduring 26 hours of labor.
Ben expressed his love and hopes for their daughter in an open letter he wrote and shared online. In 2016, they added another member to their family with the birth of their son.
Mor and Ben are followers of Orthodox Judaism and currently reside in Los Angeles with their two children.
Children Of Mor Shapiro
Leeya Shapiro is the first child of Ben and Mor Shapiro, born on January 28, 2014, in Los Angeles, California. Her younger sibling was born two years later.
Mor, Leeya’s mother, experienced a lengthy 26-hour labor before her birth. After her arrival, Leeya was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect involving the atrial septum.
This condition often goes undetected until symptoms, some of which can be life-threatening, begin to emerge after birth.
The Early Life Challenges Of Leeya Shapiro
Leeya entered the world with a heart ailment present from birth. This condition can manifest itself through signs such as fatigue, blue skin, and slow weight gain in infants.
The next year, Leeya was taken to the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles for open-heart surgery.
Ben and Mor, anxious for her well-being, sought the services of the same physician who had successfully operated on Jimmy Kimmel’s son.
Fortunately, the surgery was a success, and Leeya has fully recovered and is now happily experiencing childhood with her younger sibling, who is two years old.
