Mark Pomerantz is an accomplished American attorney and litigator based in New York. He is reportedly associated with the prestigious New York law firm Paul Weiss.
In February 2021, he stepped down from the firm to participate in the investigation of former President Donald Trump, launched by Manhattan County Attorney C. Vance, with Mark Pomerantz as a key member.
The former president had agreed to cooperate with the investigation. However, Mark resigned from his role in February 2022.

Mark Floyd Pomerantz, also known as Mark Pomerantz, was born in New York City on 3 May 1951.
From a young age, he showed a strong interest in the law and justice, spending much of his childhood reading books on the subject and learning about the latest field developments.
This early passion for the law would shape his future career as a successful attorney. With a birth sign of Taurus and a religious belief in Christianity, Mark’s upbringing in the diverse and dynamic city of New York greatly influenced his values and perspective.
Mark Pomerantz received his primary and high school education in his hometown, where he excelled academically.
In 1972, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College, and three years later, he gained his Juris Doctor degree in 1975 from the University of Michigan Law School.
Mark Pomerantz Professional Career
Mark Floyd Pomerantz began his legal career for the Southern District of N.Y. as a federal prosecutor, where he handled cases related to organized crime.
In 1982, he established his law firm and continued to practice law until 1997, when he returned to the U.S. Attorney’s Office as the chief of the Criminal Division.
During this time, he reported to U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White and was responsible for overseeing numerous criminal cases.
In additionally to his work as a lawyer, Mark served as editor-in-chief of the Michigan Law Review, was elected to the Order of the Coif, and worked as a law clerk for Justice Potter Stewart of the United States.
Supreme Court and Judge Edward Weinfeld of the U.S. District Court. He also served as chairman of the Mayor’s Commission to Combat Police Corruption for approximately 18 months.
More recently, on 2 February 2021, he was confirmed as an extraordinary associate lead prosecutor in N.Y. County District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.’s office to aid the criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump’s individual and business finances. In this role, one of his main duties is dealing with witnesses.
Mark Pomerantz Resignation
Mark Floyd Pomerantz resigned from his position as a special assistant to the New York County District Attorney on 23 February 2022 amid the ongoing investigation into former President Donald J. Trump and his businesses.
In his resignation letter, Mark expressed disappointment with New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s decision and maintained his belief that the former president was guilty of multiple felony violations.

The former lead investigator of the Manhattan district attorney’s probe into alleged financial crimes committed by former U.S. President Donald Trump says that the case is strong and that charges should have been filed.
Mark Pomerantz, a former federal prosecutor, wrote a book “People vs. Donald Trump” where he criticizes current DA Alvin Bragg for failing to file charges against Trump.
Bragg, however, says that the case wasn’t ready and that multiple senior prosecutors in his office came to the same conclusion.
The probe focused on whether Trump manipulated the worth of his assets for loans and tax breaks, and Pomerantz wanted to charge Trump with crimes such as falsifying business records and making hush money payments to Stormy Daniels.
In his resignation letter, Pomerantz left his post in February 2022 and said that he thinks Bragg’s decision not to prosecute is misguided.
The District Attorneys Association of New York criticized Pomerantz’s book as unprecedented, jeopardizing the ongoing investigation. Trump has not been levied with any crimes as of yet.
