Tatjana Patitz, a famous supermodel featured in George Michael’s “Freedom ’90” music video, is no longer in our lives. She died at age 56.
Her lawyer reported that breast cancer caused her death on January 11.
Supermodel Patitz, born in Germany, was recognized as one of the pioneers.
At 17, she competed in her first modeling competition in Stockholm, finishing third. But the central thrust of her career began after a shoot with fashion designer Peter Lindbergh.
Singer George Michael Chose Her
Singer George Michael chose her to appear in his “Freedom ’90” video clip starring Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, and Cindy Crawford when he spotted her in British Vogue in 1990.
She didn’t even manage to meet Michael while they were shooting the “Freedom ’90” video, but she later said, “I was in my own space. I had to type of slide throughout and over the wall for a chunk of the day. The set had a big, loft-like feel to it and was run-down. I was sprawled out on a lounge sofa with a black plaid shirt in another configuration. I think I had on a strapless dress at the time. Moreover, I was smoking. Even in older films and videos, smoking was still prevalent.
There was no official statement on casualties or a monument.
