Steps To Do Butterfly Braids

Step 1: Create a Triangular Part

  • Start by making a triangular part on your hairline and securing it with an elastic band.
  • On the left corner of your forehead, create a curved part and apply some edge protection gel.
  • Repeat these steps to ensure the parts are aligned with the tip of your previous styling.

Step 2: Stitch Tie the Hair

  • Stitch tie the hair segment to the left of the part you made at the edge of your forehead.
  • As you braid, pull more hair towards the crown of your head, cutting the loose ends off.
  • Create a loose cornrow down the middle of your head to keep the loose ends out of your way.
  • Make a slightly curved stitch at the neck with the remaining hair.

Step 3: Create Cornrows

  • Create a cornrow above the first stitch braid, starting two inches back from your hairline and leaving the edges loose.
  • Create another cornrow right above it, starting from the hairline.
  • Repeat this pattern on the right side of your head, beginning at the right side of the triangular section in the center of your hairline.

Step 4: Twist and Cornrow

  • Twist the two inches of hair left at the front.
  • Start tying a thicker cornrowed mohawk hairstyle, using all the free ends.
  • Continue with the stitch braids and cornrows woven under the middle of your head.

Step 5: Set the Look

  • Spray your head with mousse and cover it with wrap bands.
  • Use the heat from a blow dryer to set the look, then remove the wrap bands.
  • Grasp the front part of the hair and style a relaxed feed-in box braid with branches for a firmer finish.
  • Connect the box braid to the cornrowed mohawk and tie the final look, trimming any excess cord.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You’ve just mastered the beautiful butterfly braids in no time. Here are a few tips to keep your braids looking fresh:

  1. Use Edge Control Gel: This helps to keep your edges neat and defined.
  2. Moisturize Regularly: Keep your scalp and hair hydrated to maintain the braids’ shine.
  3. Wrap at Night: Use a silk or satin scarf to protect your braids while you sleep.

Enjoy your fabulous new hairstyle and rock those butterfly braids with confidence!
