Zion Williamson College Basketball

Despite playing only one season with Duke, Williamson left a lasting impression with his impressive performance.

He was recognized for his outstanding contributions by being named ACC Player of the Year, ACC Sportsmen of the Year, and ACC Rookie of the Year following his debut season.

In addition, he broke the record for the most points scored by a freshman in a single game.

He earned various other awards and accolades throughout college, including AP Player of the Year, College Player of the Year, and the Wayman Tisdale Award.

Williamson was also named ACC Rookie of the Week five times, further solidifying his status as one of the most acceptable players in college basketball.

Zion Williamson’s NBA Career

After being selected as the New Pelicans’ 1st overall pick in the 2019 NBA, Zion made an impressive start to his rookie season, scoring at least 20 in each of his first four games.

He continued to amaze fans and pundits, becoming the youngest player to record ten consecutive games with 20 or more points.

The following year, in 2021, Williamson set another record, becoming the youngest NBA player to score 30 points with a shooting accuracy rate of 90%. This feat earned him his first selection to the NBA All-Star Game.

As he continues to dominate the court, Zion is known as one of the promising young players in the league, constantly setting and breaking records.

Zion Williamson’s Playing Style

Zion’s playing style has been described as fast, agile, and incredibly dynamic. He has the exceptional jumping ability and is often hailed as a “freak of nature.”

At the same time, he is comfortable playing power forward, and small-ball centre, his position on the court is hard to define and does not fit within any conventional basketball category.

Players like Charles Barkley, Anthony Mason, Lebron James, Julius Randle, and Larry Johnson have all been cited as comparable to Williamson.

Zion’s dunking prowess is one of his most notable strengths, and he has been compared to the legendary Vince Carter.

While he is considered “almost ambidextrous” and can dunk easily using either hand, his shooting technique has been called “unorthodox.”

Some have raised questions about his work ethic regarding defense, although he has shown an ability to defend well.

Additionally, Williamson has received praise for his passing, ball-handling, shot-blocking, and rebounding abilities.

Zion Williamson First NBA Contract

Selected as the 1st overall pick in the 2019 draft, Zion was expected to earn around $20 million during his first two seasons.

The rookie pay scale is adjusted annually according to the $109 million salary cap. This means Williamson could earn a maximum of $45 million during his first four seasons in the NBA.

Zion Williamson Nike Shoe Deal

In July 2019, Nike formally announced that Zion had signed an exclusive shoe contract with the company.

News reports the following day indicated that the deal was valued at $75 million over five years, which amounts to an annual salary of $15 million. The deal is fully guaranteed with no conditions or milestones attached.

While it is the highest-paying rookie shoe deal in NBA history based on annual earnings.

Zion Williamson Real Estate

In 2020, Zion found himself amid controversy when it was revealed that he may have received a $950,000 home as a “gift” from Duke University.

If these gifts had been made public, Williamson would have become ineligible to play college basketball according to established laws.

Former marketing agent Gina Ford brought this story to light, claiming that the Williamson family moved from a modest home in South Carolina to a mansion near Duke University after Zion joined the team.

It was also suggested that his family received three luxury vehicles for unexplained reasons.

Reports later revealed that this mansion was often used as a bargaining tool to attract top-ranked athletes to play for the school.

Following the revelation of this story, there were suggestions that Duke may have to forfeit his title.

Zion Williamson Car Collection

Zion Williamson, a basketball phenom from Duke University, is a rising star in the NBA. With his impressive skills on the court, it’s no surprise that he has a taste for luxury cars off the court.

One of the most notable cars in Zion’s collection is his Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. This SUV boasts a powerful V8 engine and a sleek design. Zion frequently drives this car near his hometown.

Another car in Zion’s garage is his Porsche 911 GT3 RS. This sports car is known for its agility and speed, with a top speed of 193 mph.

Zion has been spotted driving this car on the streets of New Orleans, where he currently plays for the Pelicans.

In addition to his Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, Zion owns a Ford F-150 Raptor, a high-performance pickup truck perfect for off-roading adventures.

Haynes Updates Zion Williamson’s Progress Before Injury Re-Evaluation

New Orleans Pelicans power forward Zion is progressing as he recovers from a hamstring injury and has begun on-court workouts without experiencing new setbacks. Williamson has been out of action since January 2nd with a right hamstring strain.

The Pelicans cleared him to resume basketball activities on March 22nd, and his condition is set to be reevaluated after two weeks.

However, with only a few regular-season games remaining by then, it is unclear whether he will return before the season ends.

The Pelicans have struggled with a 21-26 record without him in his absence. When healthy, Williamson averages 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, making him a crucial part of the team.

Until his return, Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum are expected to carry the offensive load for the Pelicans.
