Warner Bros. Discovery has released the trailer for “True Detective: Night Country” during the grand event for Max, the new streaming service that brings together HBO Max and Discovery+.
Jodie Foster and Kali Reis take on the lead investigative roles in the newest installment of Nic Pizzolatto’s anthology series.
When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men operating the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish.
To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.
Alaska, shown in the movie, is a lonely, icy place that appears to be cold enough to freeze your body or bones.
The eight missing guys appear to have removed their shoes before heading out into the snow as the investigators secure the murder scene.
While tensions between Foster and Reis’ characters are rising, the frigid weather does little to calm the hot-headed cops.
The Mysteries Of Missing People & Frozen Bodies
While the investigators try to figure out why people have been going missing, there are also a lot of frozen bodies, cracking ice, and enigmatic painted symbols.
The show’s cast includes Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, Isabella Star Lablanc, Aka Niviâna, Anna Lambe, Joel D. Montgrand, Christopher Eccleston, and John Hawkes. Issa López serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer and directs all episodes.
The first “True Detective” season premiered in 2014 with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, followed by Season 2 with Taylor Kitsch, Rachel McAdams, and Vince Vaughn the following year. Season 3 was released in 2019 and starred Mahershala Ali.
Foster executive produces “Night Country,” along with Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak for Pastel, Mari Jo Winkler, Chris Mundy, Alan Page Arriaga, Steve Golin, Richard Brown, Harrelson, McConaughey, Cary Joji Fukunaga, and Pizzolatto. Princess Daazhraii Johnson, Cathy Tagnak Rexford, and Sam Breckman are producers.
