Deputies claim that four men were detained about the assault of LSU student Madison Brooks, which allegedly took place before she was killed by a car.
According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prosecutor’s department, Brooks was assaulted before she died when she was struck by a car.
A 17-year-old unidentified kid and Kaivon Deondre Washington, 18, were accused of third-degree assault.
Everett Lee, 28, and Casen Carver, 18, were accused of being present but not taking part in the third-degree assault for which they had been charged.
The warrant claims that he claimed Brooks begged for a trip home with them.
He claimed that Brooks agreed to have sexual relations with Washington and the 17-year-old when they requested it.
What did Carver tell Detectives?Â
The warrant states that Carver told detectives he “hated” sex and thought Brooks was too drunk to realize that she agreed.
He claimed they later left Brooks in a neighborhood close to Burbank Drive, where she was struck and murdered by a vehicle.
At 3 a.m., Brooks was hit by a vehicle while sitting in the pitch-black. Later, a hospital declared her dead.
Thus according to deputies, the motorist in the vehicle which struck her did not exhibit any signs of intoxication.
However, the defense lawyer for two individuals accused in the purported incident asserts that a video demonstrates no rape.
According to the investigators, Brooks’ blood alcohol content was.319g%, or over four times the permissible limit.
Haley insisted that she wasn’t too drunk to be unable to provide consent.
According to the lawyer, Brooks and the driver got into a fight after making several stops.
As per the arrest paperwork, the driver allegedly thought the girl was too drunk to consent.
Haley is confident that the video proof from the vehicle will show that his clients are not guilty and that the incident was caused by bars serving alcohol to young patrons.
Haley plans to give the footage to the district attorney’s department and the investigators.
