Glenn Beck Early Career

Beck moved to Provo, Utah, after finishing high school, where he found employment at the KAYK radio station. 

Afterward, Beck relocated to Washington, D.C., where he worked at WPGC. Then he moved to Louisville, Kentucky, in the middle of 1985 to host a morning radio program for WRKA called “Captain Beck and the A-Team.”

However, Beck left Kentucky due to a disagreement with the WRKA administration, and he eventually found employment at KOY-FM in Phoenix, Arizona.

Beck maintained his career in radio, and when he was 21, he had amassed a respectable salary of $70,000. 

The Glenn Beck Program

When Beck’s program, “The Glenn Beck Program,” debuted on WFLA (AM) in Tampa, Florida, in 2000, he was granted a second chance. 

Within a year, Beck overcame his previous struggle to achieve high ratings and climbed from 18th place to the top spot in his afternoon time slot.

Premiere Radio Networks decided to broadcast the program nationally on 47 different stations in January 2002 due to its sustained success and popularity. 

In 2008, “The Glenn Beck Program” had over 6.5 million listeners, was carried on over 280 radio stations nationwide, and was ranked No. 4.

Glenn Beck Television Career

In January 2006, Beck transitioned from radio to television with his weekly show ‘Glenn Beck’ on CNN.

Beck received the coveted Marconi Radio Award for Network Syndicated Personality of the Year while working for the network in 2008. 

Later on in the year, Beck declared his intention to leave CNN and join Fox News Channel, where “Glenn Beck” debuted in 2009. 

Also, he had a regular Friday feature on “The O’Reilly Factor” at Fox News called “At Your Beck and Call.”

In 2011, Beck left Fox News to launch his own media network, TheBlaze TV (initially known as GBTV). 

When the channel first debuted, it was an online TV network that required a subscription. According to The Wall Street Journal, TheBlaze TV attracted more than 300,000 members in its first year of operation, bringing in an estimated $40 million in income.
