Kyle Troup, born on June 11, 1991, in North Carolina, was introduced to the sport of bowling at a young age due to his father, John “Guppy” Troup, being a professional bowler and former PBA Tour star.
By his teenage years, he had already become one of the youngest members of the North Carolina All-Stars bowling team.

On February 10, 2020, the pro bowler shared a heartbreaking announcement on Facebook about the loss of his mother, Sherry Herndon Troup, to cancer.
With a heavy heart, he wrote that heaven gained an angel and that he was grateful to have spent her last moments with his family.
Sherry had been battling cancer for a long time, and Kyle’s win at the fourth PBA Jonesboro Open was a source of happiness for her just before her passing.
In a Facebook post, Sherry expressed her pride in her son and his win. Kyle dedicated his win to his mother and was particularly proud of defeating Hall of Famer Chris Barnes to secure the title.

In an interview with Flobowling after his 2021 PBA Playoffs win, Kyle spoke about his father, Guppy Troup, and how he enjoys putting on a show for him and winning trophies together.
He was thrilled to hand over the WWE belt he won to his father, who proudly displayed it to the cheering crowd. Kyle’s father is a former PBA professional bowler, with a significant history in the PBA, including eight national titles and 41 titles in PBA Regional Tour competitions.
It is no surprise that Kyle got his inspiration from his father, who has become one of the greatest bowlers in history. He also talked about how his father’s presence brings him comfort.
Tackett Defeated Kyle Troup To Earn His First U.S. Open Title & Third Major Overall
On Sunday, Tackett of Indiana won the 2023 United States. Open, presented by Go Bowling! He defeated Kyle Troup of North Carolina, 221-208, to earn his first U.S. Open title and third major overall.
Previously, Tackett had won the 2017 FireLake Tournament of Champions in Owasso, Oklahoma, and the 2016 PBA World Championship in Reno. With this victory, Tackett achieved the career triple crown and only needs a USBC Masters title to achieve the grand slam.
The championship match was a nail-biter, tied at 164 through eight frames, and a single shot determined Tackett’s victory. Troup struck in the ninth frame and on the 1st ball in the tenth, but his 2nd shot left the 4-6-7-10 split, and he could not convert, finishing with a score of 208.
Tackett stepped up and delivered two flush strikes to win the championship, the trophy, the green jacket, and the $100,000 first-place prize.
