Carol Dickerson fell in love with Archie Sutton, a professional footballer, and left her education to marry him and changed her name to Carol Joan Sutton.

Acting Career
In the 1960s, Carol Sutton entered the Dashiki Project Theatre. She started her acting career on television by appearing in the 1974 TV show The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, and then the rest was history.
