The eldest name of their daughter is Ashley Reeves, and they name their younger daughter is Casey Reeves.
Despite strict rules and restrictions, their daughters were very close to them, and both parents played a big role in their lives.
So, when Ashely Reeves did not return home at ten (her curfew time), her parents called the police immediately because they knew their daughter never came home late and she might be in trouble.

In a panic, the mother of Ashley Reeves called St. Clair County Sheriff’s and reported her daughter missing.
Additionally, Ashley’s mother also contacted her cell service provider to obtain Ashley’s phone records.
As Ashley Reeves’ sim card was registered with her mother’s name, so it wasn’t difficult for her mother to obtain the phone records.
From there, she noticed one number with which Ashely had contacted a lot recently. So, she followed her motherly instincts and called that number.
The number belonged to Ashley Reeves’s teacher, Sam Shelton, who talked very nicely and showed his concern about Ashley’s missing.
During the whole conversation, her mother didn’t detect any sort of weirdness in his voice. As part of the investigation, the police also talked with Ashley’s boyfriend, friends, and teachers to find any lead on Asheely’s missing case.
They found something suspicious about Ashley’s teacher Sam Shelton because he changed his story multiple times.
So, police held him in custody and after further investigation, Sam confessed that he was involved in a physical relationship with Ashley and he strangled her and dumped her body in Belleville Park.
The police immediately took Sam Shelton in the car to identify the place where he dumped Ashley’s body and recovered Ashley Reeves who was taking her last breaths but luckily got saved by the timely efforts of her parents and police.
Where Are Ashley Reeves Parents Now?
After 30 hours of being strangled, Ashley Reeves was still breathing when the police discovered her body.
When the doctors saw her worse condition, they induced a coma so that her body healed quickly. The doctors told Ashley Reeves’s parents that she might need a year to recover.
Her parents didn’t leave her side during this whole time, and they both took leaves from their jobs to take care of her daughter. Ashley’s recovery took one year, and her parents contributed a great deal to her recovery.
While sharing his thoughts with Belleville News-Democrat, Ashley Reeves’s father, Michelle, said,
I was surprised as anyone that this happened. I did not think that he was the kind of person to do something like this.
Then, speaking about attending his bond hearing, he added,
I think I cracked a tooth, I was clenching my jaw so hard.
