Friends star Courteney Cox is finally nominated for an Emmy two decades after the show has ended. This is Courtney’s first Emmy nomination while her ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’ has been nominated before.
The HBO special show “ Friends: the reunion” scored a variety special nomination on Tuesday from the Television Academy. Courtney was an executive producer along with the original creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane and clearly did a wonderful job. The reunion was a universal hit with record viewership in millions and revived the memories of millions of fans all around the world.
The NBC sitcom, “F.R.I.E.N.D.S” ran for a whole decade and the show received a total of 62 Emmy nominations. Jenny got 5 of these, from supporting comedy actress to main comedy actress, from which she won in 2002. Kudrow got an incredible 6 nominations during the 10-year long show, all nominations were in supporting comedy actresses and in which she won in 1998. LeBlanc rejoiced 3 times nominations, Perry nabbed a lead comedy actor category nomination in 2002 while Schwimmer achieved a supporting comedy actor nomination once, in 1995.
And though Courtney Cox was extremely proud and happy for her cast members to receive Emmy nominations, she herself was hurt thinking that she is the one left out. And to think about it Cox’s character “Monica Geller” was the main center of the group during the show making her the main character of the whole show. She was also ignored for later work, such as in ABC turned TBS sitcom “Cougar town”. So this is her first-time Overall Primetime Emmy nomination.
Last month on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show, she stated about the ignorance for her role in Friends, saying while being super happy for the other cast members, it hurt to be left out, “It was finally like, oh, I’m the only one?” and that hurt, she expressed. But now she can totally rejoice her long-awaited academy attention as well as a multi-nominee about the Day time nominees.
