American Idol Caleb Syesha Mercado Ten-day Old Seized By Police

After a road safety check on Florida, the American Idol star and her partner Tyron Deneer were forcefully separated from their 10-day old daughter on Wednesday.

This is Mercado’s second child that has been “forcefully and legally kidnapped” -in her words.

In her now-viral video, Syesha can be seen raising voice against this injustice in an encounter with Manatee County sheriff’s deputies. She can be heard saying,

“My baby is days old, and you are taking my baby away from me. You have no heart. This is so wrong.”

According to Mercado, she and her partner, both black, were driving in their SUV along with their newborn daughter, when they were stopped at the roadside by the Manatee deputies to conduct a welfare check. The authorities preceded by taking away their toddler from them and told them that they were taking her to the hospital for a physical checkup. But then they were given a court order that they have lost custody of all the children.

Similar news came in about five months ago when the Florida Children’s department confiscated Mercado’s 18-month-old son Amen’Ra on March 11. She stated on her gofundme page, “On March 11, our son Amen’Ra was forcibly and legally kidnapped from us by CPS, who claimed we refused a B12 shot that was a matter of life and death, which was an absolute lie. We never refused a B12 shot, and at no point was he on the verge of death.”

Her gofundme bio further reads, “Our son has since been placed with a white foster family without interviewing qualified relatives or friends of our family for placement while we investigate., we are given limited information and presently only have weekly zoom visitation for an hour with our son, with no court order stating these visitation limitations.”
